Trash Can Cooking
I have cooked Ham and Turkeys in a trash can and they both came out great!
Using a Trash can is like using a convection oven. It cooks a 10 pound turkey in only 2 1/2 hours.
Be sure to use the following rule when making a Turkey
10 Gallon Trash Can
10 Pound Turkey
10 Pounds of Charcoal
You will also need: Tongs to move the Charcoal around Good heat resistant gloves to lift up trash can.
Preparing Trash Can
BEFORE YOU COOK IN YOUR TRASH CAN YOU MUST DO THE FOLLOWING!!!
Put the trash can in a campfire and burn off all of the shiny coating from the outside and inside.
Let cool and burn one more time.
Wash with soap and water and dry very well.
The coating you just burned off keeps the trash can from rusting so keep it inside when it's not in use.
